After an opening round where each looked to determine their range and make their reads, the warring Brandons spent the next four five-minute periods going back-and-forth on the feet, with only brief moments where the fight hit the canvas interspersed in between. Moreno seemed to land the bigger individual shots, while Royval was the more active striker of the two, constantly looking to touch the former champion with punches and kicks.

When the scores were read, it was every bit as close as anticipated, with Royval garnering the split decision victory and the biggest win of his career. This was a strong bounce-back effort for the recent title challenger, who called for a rematch with champion Alexandre Pantoja, who was in attendance, following the contest. | Official Scorecards
