This is the UFC Edmonton live blog for Brandon Moreno vs. Amir Albazi, the main event fight this Saturday in Edmonton, Canada.
A two-time UFC flyweight champion, Moreno is one of the stars of the 125-pound division, but “The Assassin Baby” has fallen on tough times recently. Losing his title to Alexandre Pantoja in a split decision at UFC 290, Moreno then fell short in his rebound fight in February, dropping a split decision to Brandon Royval at UFC Mexico City. Now Moreno needs a win to stop his skid and make sure he remains in the flyweight title picture.
Albazi is undefeated in his UFC career, with his most difficult opponent being availability. After winning a close split decision over Kai Kara-France in 2023 to put himself in the title picture, Albazi then suffered some unfortunate injuries to stall his momentum. Finally healthy again and back in the cage after a layoff of over 500 days, Albazi hopes to secure a shot at the flyweight title with the biggest win of his career.
