Youssef Zalal continued his torrid UFC comeback tour earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 2, 2024) at UFC Edmonton live on ESPN+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, stopping bantamweight veteran Jack Shore with a devastating knockdown into a submission finish in the second round.
Shore came into this “Prelims” affair as a sizeable underdog, but he had still posted a 6-2 career Octagon record. He was hoping to get back on track at 135 pounds and regain the hype he did when he made his debut all the way back in 2019. Zalal, on the other hand, came into Saturday night riding a two-fight win streak after returning to UFC earlier this year. Those two finishes were submission wins over Billy Quarantillo and Jarno Errens.
After a solid back-and-forth first round, Zalal sparked the second round with a spectacular knee down the middle as Shore was level changing. Shore went crashing to the canvas, but instead of piling on punches Zalal found a chance to lock up a tight arm-triangle choke. Shore fought for a few moments before finally tapping.

Zalal, 28, is now 3-0 since his return to UFC and undefeated in his last seven fights overall. The Factory X product has never looked better and may have just earned a shot at the bantamweight top 15 his next time out. Remember, Zalal went to a decision with Ilia Topuria back in 2020 and even out-struck “El Matador” in that fight.
