Paddy Pimblett owes King Green a debt of gratitude for his latest financial windfall.
“The Baddy” cashed in big after picking up one of three UFC 304 Performance of the Night awards, with UFC CEO Dana White announcing at the evening’s post-fight press conference that Pimblett was given a $200,000 bonus. That’s four times the standard bonus of $50,000.
White initially promised that bonuses would be doubled following a request from Green at this past Thursday’s pre-fight press conference, but Pimblett’s bonus was doubled again on Saturday night. Ironically, Pimblett was rewarded for a first-round submission of Green on the evening’s main card.
Pimblett is the just the third man to submit Green, a veteran of 50 pro bouts, and the first to do so since 2009.
The other two $100,000 Performance of the Night bonuses went to interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall and Mick Parkin, both of whom scored impressive first-round finishes.
