Paddy Pimblett plans to show up and show out in his potential last Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bout.
UFC 304 is right around the corner as the promotion returns to Manchester, England for a plethora of interesting match ups next weekend (Sat., July 27, 2024). Amongst the batch is a Lightweight contender clash that gives Liverpool’s “Baddy” the opportunity to enter the Top 15 with a win over the No. 15-ranked King Green.
Pimblett, 29, has been a proficient grappler throughout his 24-fight career (21-3), having won predominantly by submission with nine on his resume. Against Green, Pimblett has publicly challenged the veteran to test himself on the ground, which Green has said he will, boasting about his own skills in the process.
“Bobby made me laugh after saying last week, ‘You said I can’t submit you, grapple with me then,’” Pimblett said on his YouTube channel. “Bobby put up a story saying, ‘If you wanna grapple, Paddy, then just sit down as soon as we start fighting and butt scoot towards me. I’ll sit in your guard.’
“Why would I do that?” he continued. “I’m gonna come out and f*cking fight with you, but you’re saying I can’t submit you. Let’s see if you’ll grapple with me. Let’s see if you’ve got the balls. I don’t think you have. Your cajones aren’t big enough. After he put that story up talking about scooting, he put a story up of his brown belt, and it just made me giggle. I got my brown belt when I was like 21. Levels to this sh*t, boy.”
Green, 37, will enter the bout after a rebound unanimous decision win over Jim Miller at UFC 300 in April 2024. Two fights earlier, Green scored the first submission win of his 49-fight career (32-15-1, 1 no contest) since 2013 when he tapped Tony Ferguson with a third round arm triangle choke (watch highlights).
