‘Conor McGregor Was Never The Safe Bet’

MMA news

“Iron Mike” has shared a message.

Yesterday (Thurs., June 13, 2024), after a week of guessing and speculation, Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler was officially canceled due to McGregor dealing with an undisclosed injury.

The new main event is Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazha for the Light Heavyweight title (check out the rest of the new card here).

Chandler was relatively quiet throughout the downfall of the UFC 303 main event, however. He tweeted out quotes every other day to throw people off but didn’t address speculation directly. The former Bellator champion shared a message on Instagram through his sponsor, megafitmeals, a day after the cancelation.

“[Conor McGregor] was never the safe bet as an opponent, he was always the highest risk,” Chandler wrote. “Maybe the highest reward… but the biggest opportunity. There is no right or wrong in business… you only take risk to grow, or remain comfortable where you are.

Embrace the uncertainty. Seek the opportunity. Take calculated risk… That’s what [Chandler] does. And if it doesn’t go as planned… redirect the course to something even more great. Our respect to the man who represents the fight world better than anyone we’ve ever known. NO FEAR. NO LIMITS. NO EXCUSES. Make hard work your passion – who cares who’s on the other side of the punch.”

Chandler has been criticized for sitting out for two years waiting for his golden ticket to a huge payday, but he seems to still have no regrets.

Hopefully, he doesn’t sit out another two years waiting for “Notorious.”
