Erin Blanchfield announced her arrival to the main event scene in a big way Saturday with a definitive victory over former champ Jessica Andrade in the UFC Fight Night 219 headliner.
Blanchfield (11-1 MMA, 5-0 UFC) passed her biggest test to date with flying colors when she outstruck and submitted Andrade (25-10 MMA, 15-9 UFC) in the second round of the women’s flyweight headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
After the performance, Blanchfield called for the winner of the UFC 285 title bout between champ Valentina Shevchenko and challenger Alexa Grasso on March 4. At just 23, though, is it too soon for Blanchfield to get a crack at the belt?
