Thiago Santos’ struggles to get back to his top contender form continued on Saturday when he suffered a loss to Magomed Ankalaev in the UFC Fight Night 203 main event.
Santos (22-10 MMA, 14-9 UFC) dropped his fourth out of his past five octagon appearances in a unanimous decision defeat to Ankalaev (17-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) in the light heavyweight headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
After pushing Jon Jones to the limit in their July 2019 title fight and enduring serious injuries to both his knees in the process, Santos has been unable to get the same momentum back in high-profile spots.
