Getting another crack at Israel Adesanya’s middleweight title is the ultimate goal for the two men competing in Saturday’s main event in Las Vegas.
At UFC Fight Night 196 on Saturday at the UFC Apex, Marvin Vettori and Paulo Costa will clash in the main event in a fight that was originally scheduled to take place at 185 pounds, but now will be at light heavyweight.
In the latest MMA Junkie rankings, Costa holds the No. 5 slot, while Vettori sits at No. 7. Both believe they will fight for the title again in the near future, but they also happen to be the two men who the champ recently beat in title fights. Costa was finished at UFC 253 in the second round and Vettori fell to the champ for the second time via unanimous decision at UFC 263.
Despite this matchup seeing a number of changes to the agreed-upon weight during fight week, will the winner find a way to get another crack at Adesanya’s middleweight title?
Our “Spinning Back Clique” panel of George Garcia, Danny Segura, and Nolan King debate the topic along with host John Morgan. Check out the discussion above and watch this week’s full episode below.
