Dustin Poirier picks Daniel Cormier to replace Dana White: ‘He would be a great face of a company’

MMA news

Dustin Poirier thinks former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) champ-champ Daniel Cormier could fill the shoes of UFC President Dana White one day.

Poirier, who challenges Charles Oliveira for the UFC Lightweight title at UFC 269, was recently asked who could serve as White’s successor. Poirier suggested that Cormier — an Olympic wrestler and former UFC champion in the heavyweight and light heavyweight divisions — might have what it takes.

“That’s a tough spot to fill,” Poirier told entrepreneur Patrick Bet-David (h/t MMA News). “I’m not sure. I think Daniel Cormier maybe? Maybe somebody who’s been in combat sports. I don’t know if he knows a whole lot about the business side, but I think he would be a great face of a company.”

Cormier (22-4) retired from mixed martial arts (MMA) following a unanimous decision loss to Stipe Miocic in Aug. 2020 to close out their trilogy. He currently serves as an analyst and commentator for the UFC and hosts DC & RC with Ryan Clark on ESPN.

Oliveira vs. Poirier is expected to headline UFC 269 on Dec. 11, airing on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
