Chuck Liddell arrested for domestic violence in Los Angeles
Former UFC champion Chuck Liddell is in hot water after being arrested and jailed on domestic violence charges on Monday.
According to TMZ, who broke the news early Monday morning, Liddell was arrested after police responded to his Hidden Hills home, where they deemed an argument occurred with the victim, his wife, that turned physical. The victim did not seek medical attention. He is currently being held with bail set at $20,000.
Liddell has been married to Heidi Northcott for more than 10 years and they share two children. He retired from the mixed martial arts on April 14, 2018, but later returned to finish the trilogy with longtime rival Tito Ortiz in late 2018. The bout, which was under the Oscar De La Hoya’s MMA promotion, Goldenboy MMA, and received heavy criticism about the sanctioning of the bout. He lost to Ortiz in the first round.
Liddell is the second former UFC champion turned Hall of Famer to be arrested on domestic violence charges in the last 30 days and joins Jon Jones in the hot seat.
Jones was arrested in late September after he allegedly assaulted his longtime partner and the mother of his three children in Las Vegas, Nevada, just hours after being inducted in the UFC Hall of Fame.
Liddell’s domestic violence charge is a misdemeanor, according to MMA Junkie.
The UFC has yet to comment on the arrest.
