Conor McGregor continues to deny he has any ill-will toward music superstar Machine Gun Kelly following an altercation during Sunday’s red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Initially mum on the issue, McGregor elaborated on his thoughts outside of his New York hotel Monday. While it is still unclear exactly what started the altercation, McGregor explained that he has no ill-will toward the rapper-turned-rocker as things currently stand.
“I’ll tell you what happened,” McGregor told Adam’s Apple. “I’ll tell you what it is. I’m free here in New York City, you know what I mean? I’m back in New York. I got to go to the Barclays Center. I got to present an award. I was just going to have a good time, you know what I mean? That’s it. All love. It’s all good. Come to the next fight. Come watch me perform any time. I’ll perform, no problem. Everyone is more than welcome to come to my fights, to the shows.”
McGregor reiterated he had no prior relationship with MGK, though he was familiar with the musician’s significant other, actress and model Megan Fox. Both MGK and Fox frequently attend UFC events, including McGregor’s loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July.
“(There’s) no beef,” McGregor said. “I don’t even know the guy. I don’t even know him. Who is he? You’re telling me he’s been at the fights. Megan has been at the fights (for) years. Megan has been at the fights (for) years. I know Megan. I don’t know the guy. There’s no problem. Come to the fights. There’s no problem.”
McGregor is currently rehabbing from surgery to repair a broken leg suffered in the trilogy fight vs. Poirier. He is back on his feet, though he used a cane to move around during his VMA presentation Sunday. There is no clear timeline for his return.
As for MGK, the 31-year-old won “Best Alternative Video” at the 2021 VMAs – which marked the second straight year he took home the award. Kelly’s debut rock album, “Tickets to My Downfall”, hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in October 2020. He, along with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, are expected to drop their second album, “Born with Horns” in 2021.
