UFC 269: Where to watch, fight card & odds

If all things go as planned, the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s final pay-per-view of 2021, UFC 269, could have a championship tripleheader.

In the main card flyweight featured bout, champion Brandon Moreno will defend his title for the first time against the one man that has multiple victories against him in fellow The Ultimate Fighter alum Alexandre Pantoja. In the co-main event, women’s mixed martial arts GOAT Amanda Nunes will defend her bantamweight title against top contender Julianna Pena. And in the main event, lightweight superstar Dustin Poirier will look to dethrone the new champion, Charles Oliveira, also in his first title defense.

Dustin Poirier vs Charles Oliveira

It’s the title fight we’ve all know was coming and all wanted, which is not as common as fans would like in today’s UFC championship booking. Poirier (28-6) vs Oliveira (31-8) is a true blue matchup between the two best lightweights in the world right now. In “The Diamond,” you have a beloved figure who has become a superstar off back-to-back wins over Conor McGregor and who seems to be at the height of his powers. On the flip side, you have “Do Bronx,” a man that has always had a world of potential and finally seems to be scratching the surface on his endless talent. It is the last must-see UFC fight of 2021.

Prediction: Poirier by technical knockout, round 4

Amanda Nunes vs Julianna Pena

Pena (10-4) was able to talk her way into this bout based on a lack of strong contenders, and the sort of moxy the promotion adores. That said, Nunes (21-4) will be a massive favorite for good reason. She is the greatest women’s MMA fighter of the past, present, and if she so chooses, probably the future. you have to go back to 2017 and the Valentina Shevchenko rematch for the last time “The Lioness” was truly tested. Pena is no Shevchenko. However, every legend falls eventually, if there is anyone at bantamweight that can do it, “The Venezuelan Vixen” has enough ability to be the lucky one to make history.

Prediction: Nunes by knockout, round 2

Brandon Moren vs Alexandre Pantoja

Pantoja (24-5) holds two wins over Moreno (19-5-2). One coming during their time together on season 24 of TUF, and then again in the UFC in 2018. “The Assassin Baby” has evolved into a complete fighter on a level few expected. There is no better time for him to try and take back some control in his friendly rivalry with the one man that has owned him during his career. And why not have the flyweight title on the line in a battle of two savage 125-pound talents.
