Marvin Vettori couldn’t complete his goal of becoming the UFC’s first Italian champion Saturday when he succumbed to another loss against Israel Adesanya at UFC 263.
Adesanya (21-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) styled and struck his way to a unanimous decision victory over Vettori (17-4-1 MMA, 7-3-1 UFC) at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Ariz., securing the third consecutive defense of the UFC middleweight title and rebounding from his first loss.
Both the winner and loser of the title fight wasted no time looking ahead to their next one. Adesanya, who apparently told UFC president Dana White he wants to return in octagon, said he’s ready to rematch Robert Whittaker next. Vettori, meanwhile, called out Paulo Costa.
Are these the fights that make most sense, though? Watch the video above for thoughts and analysis on Adesanya and Vettori’s futures after UFC 263.
