A lightweight matchup is set to take place in the octagon this summer.
Multiple people with knowledge of the promotion’s plans confirmed to MMA Fighting that a bout between Vinc Pichel and Austin Hubbard is set for the UFC’s event on Aug. 21 at a location and venue yet to be announced.
Pichel enters his ninth UFC appearance with back-to-back victories and wins in six of his past seven. After a submission loss to Gregor Gillespie in June 2018, Pichel went on to earn unanimous decision wins over Roosevelt Roberts at UFC on ESPN 3 in June 2019 and Jim Miller in his lone 2020 appearance at UFC 252 in August.
Following a 1-2 stint in 2020, Hubbard kicked off his 2021 campaign on the right foot. “Thud” picked up a unanimous decision win over short-notice opponent Dakota Bush at UFC Vegas 24 in April. The 29-year-old looks to get on his first winning streak since signing with the UFC in 2019, where he is 3-3 in his six promotional appearances.
