LAS VEGAS – Uros Medic beat Aalon Cruz with a first-round TKO Saturday on the preliminary card at UFC 259 in Las Vegas.

Take a look inside the fight with Medic, who stayed unbeaten and kept his perfect string of stoppages intact, as well.

Aalon Cruz vs. Uros Medic

Result: Uros Medic def. Aalon Cruz via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 1:40
Updated records: Medic (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC), Cruz (8-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC)
Key stat: Medic pitched a shutout and outstruck Cruz 55-0.

Medic on the fight’s key moment

“He came out strong. I wasn’t sure if that was how it was going to be – he was often kind of starting slower. He came out strong. I kind of backed up (and) created some space to see what’s up. He kept his hands low. I got a quick tag first, started working and I kind of knew.

“In an interview before, I said he was going to try to strike with me. After he feels the power and speed, he’s probably going to try to take me down, and that’s where I’m going to finish the fight. And that’s exactly what happened. I kind of saw that coming, so I capitalized on it.”

“We’ve seen a lot of crazy knockouts lately, people getting paid a bunch for knockouts of the year. They are stacking those bonuses, so I’m very happy with the performance I had. I’m going to keep the momentum going, but I don’t think it was like the craziest debut. It’s a good way to kick off, good way to start the year. We had a very tough year behind us, so I’m very happy – I’m honestly very happy. My heart is full.”

Medic on what he wants next

“I’m going to keep it going. The company is fantastic and I’m having a good time right now. I have to sort out some things with my attorney and move forward with my immigration case and just get back to training at Kings MMA, and that’s about it. I’m going to visit Alaska and hopefully going to visit Serbia this year, as well.”
