Highlights! ‘Air’ Jourdain Shines in Bantamweight Debut, Locks Up Sick Power Guillotine

MMA news

Charles Jourdain made good on his bantamweight debut earlier tonight (Sat., Nov. 2, 2024) at UFC Edmonton live on ESPN+ from inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, stopping hard-nosed veteran Victor Henry with a slick second-round submission (power guillotine choke). It was the first time Henry has ever been stopped in his 32-fight pro career.

Jourdain has been up and down at featherweight over the past couple of years and decided to drop down to 135 pounds to close out 2024. The Canadian fighter picked a great card to roll out a new-and-improved version of himself as he was competing in front of a wild home crowd. Jourdain was arguably the biggest attraction on the “Prelims” undercard.

While Jourdain’s speed showed up in the first round and allowed him to land some solid strikes, Henry’s grappling, takedowns, and submission threats kept “Air” on his toes. It looked like Henry was beginning to wear Jourdain down midway through the second, but as the two bantamweights were getting back to their feet Jourdain locked up a tight guillotine choke. Henry fought just for a few seconds before tapping out for the first time in his career.

Check out the final moments in the above video player.

Jourdain, 28, could not have asked for a better result for his bantamweight debut. The Canadian veteran is known for his boxing skills and creative attacks, but he’s beginning to churn out some solid finishes by way of guillotine. If Jourdain can stay hot in his next fight he should be fast tracked to the top 15 in 2025.
