The ADCC 204 World Tournament continues today (Sunday August 18th, 2024) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and it was another great day of jiu jitsu and grappling.
While the event continues with the Absolute and Gordon Ryan vs. Yuri Simoes Superfight, all of the men’s and women’s weighted divisions have wrapped with some surprising results. In a wild back and forth battle, Diogo “Baby Shark” Reis defeated Diego Pato with an arm triangle choke to win the men’s -66kg division. Mica Galvao won his first ADCC championship against Vagner Rocha, winning the -77kg tournament with a last minute rear naked choke.
In the Men’s -99kg final, Kaynan Duarte caught Rafael Lovato Jr. in a rear naked choke to win his third ADCC championship title. And Felipe Pena shrugged off Saturday’s Superfight loss to Gordon Ryan to defeat Luke Griffith in the +99kg finals with another RNC.
In the Absolute division, Kaynan Duarte stormed through the competition to win the finals, making him a double ADCC 2024 tournament winner. With 7 of 8 victories coming via submission, it was a masterful showing. Adele Fornarino took the women’s Absolute, an impressive feat considering she was the smallest in the competition and also won the -55kg tournament.
In the final match of the night, Gordon Ryan took a dominating Superfight win over Yuri Simoes, earning a 21-0 point victory to become a seven-time ADCC champion. Who will dethrone “King Ryan?” Right now there is no clear answer to that question.
Now for video highlights from the ADCC 2024 World Tournament:
