‘Got you back with concussions’: Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz smack talk escalates

MMA news

Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz are talking smack – about smacks.

In a slew of tweets that started Saturday and flowed into Sunday, the two notorious UFC rivals engaged in a war of words on Twitter.

The exchange stemmed from an initial string of tweets where McGregor expressed interest in Power Slap, the UFC’s upcoming slap fighting league. He then pitched the idea of facing Diaz in such a contest. That was during Saturday’s broadcast.

Sunday, Diaz chimed in, which once again got a reaction out of McGregor and sparked back-and-forth.

Trilogy?

As the lifetime series with Diaz is tied at one win apiece, McGregor works toward a 2023 return to MMA competition after a broken leg suffered in July 2021. However, he is not currently in the USADA testing pool and will need six months of testing before he returns.

Diaz is currently a free agent after the completion of his UFC contract. It is unclear what his next move is, but Diaz has indicated he isn’t opposed to a UFC return nor a trilogy bout vs. McGregor down the line.

“Nate is going to be looking at the biggest fights possible,” Diaz’s manager Zach Rosenfield told MMA Junkie in November. “He has stated that completing the trilogy with Conor McGregor is something that interests him, and that has not changed.
