Jan Blachowicz angry with himself about UFC 282 outcome
Former light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz fought Magomed Ankalaev to a split draw in the UFC 282 main event leaving the 205-pound title vacant.
The UFC 282 Pay-Per-View was supposed to headlined by a rematch between then-champion Jiri Prochazka and former titleholder Glover Teixeira but a shoulder injury forced Prochazka out of the fight just 17 days before the event.
Expecting a long recovery following surgery, Prochazka vacated the championship and the Blachowicz and Ankalaev match was moved to a five-round bout for the vacant title. With no champion crowned at UFC 282, Teixeira and Jamahal Hill will compete for the light heavyweight championship at UFC 282 on January 21.
Following the fight, Blachowicz said that Ankalaev should be awarded the belt, but has since walked back those comments. On Friday, posted on social media that he’s watched the fight and is angry with himself.
“I saw the fight, I’ve heard a lot of in-depth analysis of this bout and this only confirmed to me how close I was to winning this. I was only one point away from the victory,” Blachowicz wrote on Instagram. “I don’t feel empty anymore after what happened. I’m angry with myself! #LegendaryPolishPower will come back soon.”
