Sean O’Malley doesn’t think Aljamain Sterling wants to fight Henry Cejudo
UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling is likely facing former titleholder Henry Cejudo in his next outing, but top contender Sean O’Malley doesn’t think Sterling wants the fight.
“Henry vs. Aljo, it’s pretty much announced,” O’Malley said on the TimboSugarShow on YouTube. “This is what I think. Henry’s ready to go. I believe that. I think Henry’s wanting to fight. It’s not whether he’s coming back or not. I think he’s coming back.”
“Aljo doesn’t want that fight is what I’m seeing,” continued O’Malley. “I don’t know if he doesn’t want that fight because it’s a tough matchup, or if he doesn’t want that fight because he doesn’t want to get back into fight camp. I don’t know. It could be neither. I think it’s both, personally.”
Cejudo held the 135-pound title when he retired in May 2020 after defeating Dominick Cruz. If he does end up facing Sterling, O’Malley thinks “Funk Master” will win.
“I feel like they’re going to fight in March,” O’Malley said. “I think he (Sterling) subs him.”
