Sean Strickland on fight with Jared Cannonier: ‘It ain’t gonna be boring’
No. 7 ranked middleweight contender Sean Strickland (25-4) takes on No. 2 ranked Jared Cannonier (15-6) in the UFC Vegas 62 main event on October 15 in Las Vegas.
For Strickland, it’s an opportunity to jump back into title contention and rebound from a knockout loss to Alex Pereira in his last outing at UFC 276 in July. Cannonier is also coming off a loss. He was defeated by champion Israel Adesanya via unanimous decision in the UFC 276 main event.
Strickland expects a tough fight with Cannonier, and said that there’s no way the match will be ‘boring’ like Cannonier vs. Adesanya.
“Jared is an awesome guy. He is big. He is f**king scary. Right? We can all admit that. When you have a name like ‘The Killa Gorilla,’ you’re a scary motherf**ker. I don’t care what anybody says,” Strickland told The Schmo.
“Me and him, we’re going to f**king stand in the middle of the cage. I’m going to put my hands up like this, like the typical Strickland, and we’re going to f**king bang for you guys. And I might get knocked the f**k out, or I might TKO him,” Strickland said with a chuckle.

“Jared is a solid guy. He’s a f**king hell of a fight. It’s kind of a shame Izzy ran from him and made a really boring fight out of it. It’s not going to be like that when me and him fight. It ain’t going to be boring. I’m not going to run around and dance around the ring like Peter Pan with your painted nails. We’re going to f**king fight.”
