Dana White: ‘Colby Covington says he can fight in three different divisions’
Former UFC interim welterweight champion Colby Covington has a lot of options to choose from in his fighting future.
Covington (17-3) is the top contender in the UFC’s 170-pound division, but has lost twice to the champion, Kamaru Usman. As long as Usman holds the welterweight title, Covington’s quickest path back to a title fight is likely in a different weight class.
‘Chaos’ could move up, or down a division according to UFC president Dana White. The 34-year old has fought his entire career at 170 pounds. That may soon change.
“Colby is one of these guys, he said that he’ll fight at 170, 155, or 185, so there are lots of options for Colby,” White said during the UFC Long Island Post-fight Press Conference.
Covington last fought in March, defeating Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision in the UFC 272 main event.
