It’s no secret Jake Paul wants to fight the two biggest stars in the UFC.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer has been angling for fights with former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor and longtime fighter Nate Diaz for a couple of years now. Paul is no stranger to fighting MMA fighters in the boxing ring, and he thinks there’s a legitimate chance he could face either in the future.
But the 25-year-old thinks a fight with McGregor would be tougher than one against Diaz.
“I think Conor, just because of his experience in the ring with Floyd (Mayweather Jr.),” Paul told Morning Kombat. “He’s definitely a better striker, and Nate gets hit a lot more.”
Paul currently is undefeated in boxing at 5-0. He has an upcoming fight against Hasim Rahman Jr. on Aug. 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Both McGregor and Diaz have acknowledged Paul on social media in recent weeks. Just this week alone, McGregor tweeted in a response to comments Paul had done in a recent interview, calling him a “flop.”
“Conor is going to do everything he can to discredit me, but he just wants attention,” Paul said. “If I’m nobody, then why are you tweeting at me 10 minutes after it comes out? It’s like he had my notifications on.
“… I think it’s very possible (I fight McGregor). He’s just been inactive. I’m the one who’s fighting. I’m the one who’s building my brand. I’m the one who’s going uphill, while his entire career has been going downhill. So if and when the stars align, we can make that happen, 100 percent.”
On the other hand, Diaz seems to have a different approach than McGregor and not long ago teased a potential fight between the two.
“He just knows that I’m the money fight where he’ll make the most amount of money,” Paul said about Diaz. “A lot of these guys know that, and they want to be let out of their contracts so that they can get the payday.”
