The official UFC 271 medical suspensions are in from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, and the majority of the 28 fighters on the card were able to avoid injuries that would have sidelined them well into the spring.

Two fighters that avoided serious injury were UFC 271 main event competitors Israel Adesanya and Robert Whittaker. The participants in the middleweight title fight went all five rounds, and despite it being a highly competitive scrap, Adesanya (22-1) — the victorious combatant — and Whittaker (23-6) can return to training on Feb. 28. The defending champ won by unanimous decision in the pairs rematch on Saturday night.

In the co-headliner, inside the Toyota Center in Houston, Tex., top-10 heavyweights Tai Tuivasa and Derrick Lewis battled it out for two rounds before the power of the Aussie thumber felled Lewis (26-9) by knockout. It was a career-defining victory for Tuivasa (15-3) in the biggest opportunity of his career so far. Due to the nature of the loss, Lewis will need to sit out from training until Apr. 14.
