Macy Chiasson’s short notice appearance at UFC Fight Night 199 did not go as planned.
Chiasson (7-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) The Ultimate Fighter Season 28 winner, stepped in on 10 days’ notice, replacing the injured Julia Avila to face former title challenger Raquel Pennington at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Pennington (13-8 MMA, 10-5 UFC) won the bout via submission in the second round, preventing Chiasson from stretching her win streak to three.
“Not the results that we hoped for but I’m happy I got to end 2021 with another great fight,” Chiasson wrote on <a href=”
The fight was scheduled to take place at bantamweight but was shifted to featherweight given the short notice. However, even after the adjustment, Chiasson still missed the mark, which was just one of the many hurdles she faced surrounding the contest.
“Both of my coaches were unable to make it because of other circumstances,” Chiasson explained. “A lot of variables that I had to overcome but we all do. Love this game and love the challenges I face from it. I’m always learning.”
Chiasson won her two previous bouts, defeating Shanna Young in February 2020 and Marion Reneau in March via unanimous decision. She was also scheduled to face Aspen Ladd twice in 2021, but both bookings fell apart.
