William Knight and Alonzo Menifield are on a collision course once again. Will the third time be the charm?
The two hulking light heavyweights were originally scheduled to fight in February and then were re-booked for March, but both bookings were canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
Promotion officials announced Wednesday that Knight (10-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) vs. Menifield (11-2 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is back on the schedule, slated for UFC on ESPN 31, which takes place Dec. 4 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Knight, 33, will look to turn a win into a winning streak. In August, he punched his ticket back into the win column literally, when he knocked out fellow New Englander Fabio Cherant.
Menifield, 34, currently rides a two-fight winning streak. After a two-fight skid in 2020, Menifield won back-to-back fights against the aforementioned Cherant and UFC veteran Ed Herman to start 2021.
The current UFC on ESPN 31 lineup includes:
- Rob Font vs. Jose Aldo
- Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill
- Jake Matthews vs. Jeremiah Wells
- Chris Gruetzemacher vs. Claudio Puelles
- Rafael Fiziev vs. Brad Riddell
