LAS VEGAS – Luana Pinheiro beat Sam Hughes in a unanimous decision Saturday to open the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 198 in Las Vegas.

Key stat: Pinheiro had seven consecutive first-round finishes prior to joining the UFC. Her UFC Fight Night 198 win is the first time she went to a decision since early 2017.

“I did a full camp to face Jessica Penne and she got hurt, so she was replaced by Sam. I respect her a lot. She’s a pioneer of the sport, she fought for the title and I would love to have that fight back. I hope she’s ready.”
