Despite taking part in a highly competitive five-round battle, the UFC Vegas 42 medical suspension report — released exclusively to MixedMartialArts.com — shows that event headliners Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez won’t require extended stays on the sidelines to recover from fight induced injuries.
Top-five featherweights Holloway and Rodriguez tore into each other for 25 hard-fought minutes and inflicted notable amounts of damage on each other. Yet, the results from their post-scrap medical evaluations reveal they’ll only need just a few weeks of rest. Meaning, if they so choose, they can start looking for their next bookings by the end of December.
“Blessed” was victorious in the card’s headliner by unanimous decision, with scores of 48-47, 49-46, 48-47.
Seven fighters on the card were not as lucky as the two-star 145-pounders. Both halves of the night’s co-main event in Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Ben Rothwell could be sidelined for the next six months despite their bout only lasting 32 seconds.
