The undercard for December’s Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury pay-per-view extravaganza has added an unusual name to its roster of competitors, in retired NBA star Deron Williams.

On Friday, The Athletic was first to report that the five-time all-star point guard will compete in a boxing matchup at the Dec. 18 event, taking place inside the Amelie Arena in Tampa, Fla. The news came via site contributor Shams Charania, who also added in his Twitter post that retired NFL star running back Frank Gore is being looked at as a potential opponent in this basketball vs football battle.

Former NBA star confirmed for Jake Paul vs Tommy Fury undercard

Williams ended his career following the 2017 NBA season. After splitting time over 64 games with the Dallas Mavericks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Injuries were a constant problem for the two-time Olympic gold medalist throughout his 12 years in the league. He only played 80 or more games in three seasons, however, it did not stop him from being a five-time all-star while playing for the Utah Jazz and New Jersey Nets.

The former star guard is a co-owner of successful Dallas-based fight gym Fortis MMA and has publicly proclaimed his love forcage fighting. Even taking part in a 2017 interview on the popular MMA talk show The MMA Hour.

Gore is a five-time pro bowler [the NFL version of an all-star] who played 16 seasons in the league. Leading the rushing attack for teams like the San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, and Miami Dolphins. He currently sits third all-time in NFL rushing yards.

If finalized, who is your pick to win this battle of the NBA versus the NFL in boxing, between Williams and Gore?
