UFC 268 cold open: Challengers seek ‘vengeance’ in title fights, ‘all-action berserker’ out in Big Apple

MMA Fighting

Twin title rematches take center stage in the cold open for the UFC 268 pay-per-view card on Saturday in New York City.

Narrated by actor Ron Perlman, the opening promo for the Madison Square Garden event touts “vengeance” sought by the challengers, welterweight Colby Covington and strawweight Zhang Weili, who seek to avenge losses after high-profile defeats.

For Covington, it’s a chance to dethrone the “most dangerous” welterweight in the world and the pound-for-pound best at 170 in Kamaru Usman, who nearly two years ago handed him a TKO loss. For Weili, it’s a chance to win back the title she lost by highlight-reel knockout to Rose Namajunas, who’s now in her second reign as strawweight champ after her own title-losing setback.

Additionally, a lightweight powder keg features Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler, respectively a former interim champ and one-time UFC title challenger, as they clash in hopes of being the next title challenger in the 155-pound division.
