Jiri Prochazka will ‘probably’ be Glover Teixeira’s first title defense says Dana White
No. 2 ranked light heavyweight contender Jiri Prochazka will likely be champion Glover Teixeira‘s first title defense says UFC president Dana White.
Prochazka (28-2-1) is riding a 12-fight winning streak. The Czech fighter hasn’t tasted defeat since 2015. He officially weighed in as a potential replacement for the UFC 267 main event where Teixeira defeated Jan Blachowicz to capture the 205-pound title.
During the Dana White’s Contender Series post-fight press conference on Tuesday, White was asked whether Prochazka was next in line for a light heavyweight title shot. White said, “Probably. Yeah.”
The 42-year old Teixeira defeated Jan Blachowicz by submission to capture the 205-pound championship In the UFC 267 main event on Oct. 30. Teixeira had a long climb back to a title fight after losing to Jon Jones in his first title shot seven years ago at UFC 172 in 2014.

White spoke about the hurdles Teixeira overcame to arrive at the pinnacle of the sport at 42-years old.
“Glover has had an interesting run here. He’s faced a lot of adversity from Visas to losses, personal problems,” White said. “He’s faced a lot of adversity. He’s stayed the course, never gave up on himself, and now he’s the world champ at light heavyweight.”
