Marvin Vettori didn’t appreciate Israel Adesanya’s recent comments about his UFC Vegas 41 main event win over Paulo Costa, and because of that, he claims he is going to lay hands on the champ the next time the two come face-to-face.

In a video post to his personal YouTube page following Saturday night’s event, the UFC middleweight king called the card’s headlining fight between two former foes he previously defeated a “sh*t show.”

“The Italian Dream” was asked about Adesanya’s (21-1) comments by TMZ Sports in an impromptu interview on a California street. Vettori (18-4-1) admitted he saw some of the video, but considered it just another instance of the current 185-pound champion not giving him deserved credit. And that despite having come up short in two previous fights against Adesanya, the second-ranked UFC middleweight believes he is the only man in the division that can finally bring an end to Adesanya’s championship reign.

Marvin Vettori says he will ‘f*ck up’ Israel Adesanya the next time he sees him

“He’s full of shit. I saw a glimpse of that video. I’m gonna f*ck him up the next time I see him. That’s for sure,” Vettori said. “He never gives me credit. … He knows what’s up. I’m the only guy that’s gonna beat him. Eventually, I will. It’s just a matter of time. I’m the biggest opposition for him and he knows that.”

When asked what would be next for him inside the Octagon, the 28-year-old had no specific opponent in mind. His goal is just to earn another title fight by fighting the best talent in the weight class. Vettori believes if he continues to do that, and racks up more wins, a second championship opportunity will come. Be it in a third fight with Adesanya, or maybe against someone like former middleweight champion Robert Whittaker. A man who will get a chance to dethrone the champion in the pair’s title rematch expected for early next year.

“I’m just gonna fight the best and I know the titles on the way. And if I fight him before a title [fight] or after, it doesn’t matter, to be honest. Adesanya, I’m coming for you man. It’s just a matter of time. I’m in your head rent-free,” he said.

Over the last four years, Vettori has gone 7-2-1 inside the Octagon with his lone defeats coming against Adesanya. Both by decision.

Do you agree with Vettori and believe he’ll make his way back to a title fight eventually?
