Jose Aldo vs. Rob Font is expected to shake up the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s (UFC) bantamweight division before the year’s end in a UFC Fight Night headliner.

Aldo vs. Font will reportedly headline a UFC Fight Night card on Dec. 4, according to Combate. Contracts have not officially been signed, according to the report, but they are expected to be issued shortly.

Font (No. 4) vs. Aldo (No. 5) will likely put the winner in a prime position for a UFC Bantamweight title shot; however, there is some congestion in the division now that Petr Yan will challenge for an interim title in champion Aljamain Sterling’s absence.

Aldo (29-7) is a former UFC Featherweight champion and considered among the division’s greatest fighters. He enters the Font fight with back-to-back wins over Pedro Munhoz and Marlon Vera, snapping a three-fight losing streak that includes a failed UFC Bantamweight title bid to Yan.

Font (19-4) is on the best UFC run of his career with four consecutive wins. He beat former UFC Bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, title challenger Marlon Moraes, Ricky Simon and (now) Bellator Bantamweight champion Sergio Pettis between Dec. 2018 and May 2021.

Other notable fights planned for the UFC Fight Night on Dec. 4 include Rafael Fiziev vs. Brad Riddell, Jimmy Crute vs. Jamahal Hill, Bryan Barberena vs. Matt Brown, and Brendan Allen vs. Brad Tavares.
