Dana White isn’t surprised by Jon Jones’ latest arrest, says he has ‘a lot of demons’

Dana White addressed the media following the UFC 266 weigh-ins on Friday evening, speaking chiefly about the arrest of brand-new UFC Hall of Famer and former champion, Jon Jones.

“Obviously, we’ll see how this plays out legally for him and where this ends up going,” White said. “It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas for any reason. This city is not good for Jon Jones, and here we are again.”

Jones was arrested in Las Vegas, NV just hours after being inducted into the Hall of Fame for his legendary fight with Alexander Gustafsson. He is being charged with battery domestic violence and injuring and tampering with a vehicle.

“Is it really shocking anymore? It’s really not,” he said. “It’s become not shocking. It’s almost like, ‘Uh oh, this guy is in Vegas, what’s gonna happen today?’ You want to hope that the guy is better and that won’t be the case, but he proves that every time he comes to this town that he can’t handle this place.”

Though White mentions the city of Las Vegas as being a bad place for Jones, most of his past (known) criminal activity took place near his home in New Mexico. His past includes DWI’s, firearms charges, accusations of assault, drug and alcohol issues, and in 2015 he was famously involved in a hit and run accident that left a pregnant woman injured.

“It’s like… it’s not even shocking anymore,” White said. “When we bring him here it’s almost expected. You can’t even get him in Las Vegas for less than 12 hours to induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man. A lot of demons.”

Jones is set to appear in a Las Vegas court on Saturday morning.
