After coming up big as an underdog in his past outing, Anthony Hernandez will look to continue riding his momentum.
Hernandez (8-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) meets Dustin Stoltzfus (13-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) at UFC Fight Night on Dec. 18. A person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the targeted booking to MMA Junkie but asked to remain anonymous because the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. MMA Island was first to report the news.
Hernandez, a Dana White’s Contender Series graduate, has split his first four octagon appearances. After a quick TKO loss to Kevin Holland, Hernandez rebounded with a big “Performance of the Night” submission over Rodolfo Vieira in February, bouncing the jiu-jitsu ace out of the ranks of the unbeaten.
Also punching his ticket to the UFC through the Contender Series, Stoltzfus will be in search of his first octagon win. The 29-year-old is coming off back-to-back losses to Kyle Daukaus, and most recently a submission loss to Vieira in July.
With the addition to the card, the Dec. 18 UFC event currently includes:
- Amanda Lemos vs. Nina Nunes
- Anthony Hernandez vs. Dustin Stoltzfus
