Flyweights Casey O’Neill and Antonina Shevchenko are expected to clash at the upcoming UFC Fight Night card scheduled on Oct. 2.
Multiple sources confirmed the matchup to MMA Fighting on Thursday following an initial report from MMA DNA.
Undefeated in her first seven professional fights, O’Neill has been a welcome addition to the UFC’s 125-pound division, especially after earning stoppages in her first two appearances inside the octagon.
O’Neill dispatched Ultimate Fighter veteran Shana Dobson in her debut and then submitted Lara Procopio in her most recent outing back in June.
In October, O’Neill will take another step forward in her career as she clashes with Shevchenko, who is the older sister of UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
Shevchenko has endured quite a few ups and downs since joining the UFC roster, bouncing back and forth between wins and losses through her first six fights. After an impressive ground and pound finish over Ariane Lipski last November, Shevchenko suffered a submission loss to Andrea Lee back in May.
She’ll attempt to get back on track while facing a tough test in O’Neill coming up in October with light heavyweights Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker serving as the main event on the card.
