LAS VEGAS – Vinc Pichel beat Austin Hubbard with a unanimous decision Saturday on the main card at UFC on ESPN 29 in Las Vegas.
Take a look inside the fight with Pichel, who has won five of six and three straight since returning in 2017 from a three-year layoff.
Pichel on the fight’s key moment
“I wasn’t expecting him to clinch on me so good to where I couldn’t finish him, but it went basically just how I thought it would. I knew he was a tough kid, so I knew it would be a tough fight. He did a pretty good job stopping me when I tried to finish him.”
Pichel on getting into a firefight
“I had a really strong feeling my chin was better. He didn’t really rock me in the fight, but I know I rocked him a couple times. I kind of wanted to lure him into a little brawl because he likes to come in headfirst and brawl sometimes. I was kind of hoping for that so I could catch him. But he played it really smart and was really good with the distance. … I was just expecting that brawl out of him, and he played it really smart and kind of stayed on the outside a little bit.”

Pichel on what he wants next
“(I want to get back) as soon as possible. I feel good right now. I’m a little sore, and I’m sure I’m going to be sore tomorrow and the next week or so, but I’m looking to get back as soon as possible. I want to keep this train rolling. I want this snonwball of momentum to keep going. I want to take people out and just climb up these ranks.
“I kind of do want to fight that fish dude, (Gregor Gillespie), one more time and right that wrong. But not really. Whoever Sean Shelby gives me, I’m going to beat the hell out of. That’s just my job. I’m just going to be that pit bull that needs to be let off the leash every once in a while. It doesn’t really matter to me.”
