Amanda Lemos made quite a statement with her performance at UFC Vegas 31.
The Brazilian needed just 35 seconds to dispatch opponent Montserrat Conejo with a blistering combination of punches that put her down on the mat. As soon as Conejo hit the canvas, the referee rushed into stop the contest before any more damage could be delivered.
Afterwards, Lemos claimed that a pair of top ranked opponents had turned down the opportunity to face her on Saturday night and now she’s gunning for anyone and everyone at the top of the strawweight division.
“Hey Dana [White], Mick [Maynard], I want to fight in October,” Lemos said following her win. “My name is Amanda Lemos, I’m going to be a UFC champion.
“Two girls in the top five did not accept to fight me. I want to fight in the top five with anyone. I’m going to be the champion in this category.”
The fight had barely gotten started when Lemos landed a hard right hand that immediately put Conejo on wobbly legs.
She didn’t even have a chance to recover as Lemos threw another fast left-right combination and this time Conejo was dropped to the canvas, which obviously led to the end of the fight.
After debuting in the UFC as a bantamweight, Lemos has rattled off four straight wins with three finishes including back-to-back first round knockouts as she continues to make waves in the strawweight division.
