For the first round and a half of the UFC Vegas 29 bout between Matt Brown and Dhiego Lima, the season 19 and 25 alum of The Ultimate Fighter seemed to be doing all the things necessary to win the fight. Then “The Immortal” changed all of that in seconds.

Matt Brown hits Dheigo Lima’s reset button in the second round

In the opening frame, the Brazilian showed off the trademark of his brother–former Bellator welterweight champion–Douglas Lima and slammed Brown with low kicks. The strikes seemed to be doing damage and slowing the 40-year-old so that Lima could stick and move and score points. The first round was clearly in his favor.

There was more of that in the second as The Ultimate Fighter season seven contestant stalked his younger foe and looked for that right shot to land. With two minutes left in the round, he found it. Squaring up Lima, unleashing and overhand right and putting the 32-year-old to bed before he even hit the ground.

The walk-off win ties the 28-fight Octagon veteran with Derrick Lewis for the most knockouts in UFC history at 12. It was a thunderous statement from Brown, to let the mixed martial arts world know he is far from done in the Octagon, and still has the finishing skills that made him a fan favorite for the last 13 years.
