WATCH: Bruno Silva smashes Wellington Turman with ground-n-pound at UFC Vegas 29

The Underground

Over the first few minutes of his UFC Vegas 29 fight with Wellington Turman, Bruno Silva seemed in for a difficult night of wrestling. Then he got in top position and channled Mark Coleman on his fellow Brazilian.

Early in the fight, Turman showed off his ground skills by getting “Blindado” to the mat. He eventually worked his way to his opponent’s back and put Silva in serious danger. However, the former M-1 Challenge middleweight champion weathered the storm and was able to reverse the position. That’s when the 24-year-old ended up in a world of trouble.

Bruno Silva channels Tito Ortiz in KO of Wellington Turman

While in Turman’s full guard, Silva deployed ground-and-pound bombs on the level of former heavyweight champ Coleman, and UFC hall-of-famer Tito Ortiz on his foe’s head. Once Turman was stunned, it didn’t take many more shots before Silva was celebrating a debut win in the promotion.

It was a major statement after some rough minutes to start his Octagon career. However, it’s nowhere close to what Turman has endured of late. This was a second straight knockout loss, he falls to 1-3 in the promotion, and could be in danger of a pink slip next week.
