Midnight Mania! Sonnen Rips Jones Following Tweet-And-Delete

MMA news

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

Chael Sonnen sure knows how to keep his name in the headlines. It’s been just about two years since Sonnen retired following a loss to Lyoto Machida, but that has done little to quell his ability to feud with Jon Jones, one of the best active (sorta) fighters alive. Once again, Sonnen and Jones have clashed online.

Now, the timeline here is a bit iffy, thanks to Jones’ longstanding habit of tweeting-and-deleting whenever he says anything too controversial. From what it appears, the latest kerfuffle began after Sonnen mocked Jones’ recent tweet promising to give birth to greatness.

At some point afterward, Jones tweeted (and deleted) a rather harsh sentiment towards Sonnen, which was captured and kept up by the “The American Gangster.” Mocking Sonnen’s attempts to gain attention off Jones’ name, the former Light Heavyweight kingpin wrote, “I’ll tell you to go f*ck yourself or to take my d*ck out of your mouth and you’ll actually go home and celebrate getting my attention that day. Seriously man, look at the position we are in.”

Indeed, Sonnen did make the most of Jones’ response, firing back not long afterward. Sonnen clearly employed a blanket fire strategy, attacking everything from Jones’ negotiation tactics to his marital status, while still managing to also promote Submission Underground, Sonnen’s jiu-jitsu competition company.

Check it all out below:

For what it’s worth, Jones did leave one tweet up (so far), which seemingly refers to his continued beef with Sonnen. He wrote, “I can never be irrelevant, I swear my haters keep my name going strong better than my fans do.”
