Lee goes up in weight to face Brady, sources say

MMA news

Kevin Lee is officially moving to welterweight, and he’ll face one of the division’s fastest-rising contenders in his debut.

Lee has agreed to face Sean Brady at UFC 264 on July 10 in Las Vegas, multiple sources told ESPN. Contracts have not been signed but both sides have agreed to the matchup. The pay-per-view event will take place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Lee (18-6), of Detroit, has fought in the UFC’s lightweight division since 2014. A former interim title challenger, Lee won nine of 10 appearances from 2014 to 2017, but he’s hit a rough patch as of late with just two wins in his last five fights.

Lee, 28, has not fought since March 2020 due to multiple knee surgeries.

Brady (14-0) is 4-0 in the Octagon since signing with the promotion in 2019. The Philadelphia native went a perfect 3-0 in 2020, with wins over Ismail Naurdiev, Christian Aguilera and Jake Matthews.

A non-title lightweight trilogy bout between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor is set to headline UFC 264.
