Bellator 258 takes place Friday, May 7, and will feature a bantamweight title fight between reigning champion Juan Archuleta and first-time title challenger, Sergio Pettis. After a run in the UFC, Pettis made the jump to Bellator and after going 3-0 in the division, he finds himself competing for the title, against Archuleta who claimed the title after a unanimous decision victory over Patchy Mix in 2020.

The final opening quarterfinal matchup was supposed to see two former UFC title challengers meet in Bellator’s light heavyweight World Grand Prix, as Anthony Johnson was set to take on Yoel Romero, but last week Romero was pulled from the card due to an eye issue he didn’t receive medical clearance for. In to replace Romero for the Grand Prix is Jose Augusto, who is undefeated since joining the Pitbull Brothers team, and won his last fight at Bellator 255 last month with a first-round submission victory.
Fights to watch:
While the main card of Bellator 258 has high-stake matchups from top to bottom, here are three prelim fights that fans don’t want to miss in a night full of great fights.

- Raufeon Stots vs Josh Hill: On the same night that his teammate Sergio Pettis will be competing for the title, Raufeon Stots has a chance to cement himself as a top contender in the bantamweight division. While he is no rush for a title shot, Stots has said he’s looking to take out all the contenders in the division, and Hill will be his first test of many. It may not be a fight to determine the next title challenger, but the winner of this fight could be just a couple of fights away from a title opportunity.
- Patchy Mix vs Albert Morales: Another featured bantamweight contest on the prelims, Mix is a former title challenger who lost to Archuleta but could quickly get himself back into contention with a decisive victory. He’ll have a tough opponent in former UFC competitor Albert Morales, who could skyrocket himself into the division rankings with an upset win over Mix. With Stots and Hill fighting it out, Mix will have to put on a performance above the rest in order to be back in the title conversation.
- Logan Storley vs Omar Hussein: Later in the evening Michael Page will take on Derek Anderson in a matchup of top-ranked welterweight contenders, which Storley finds himself in the middle of. While Hussein is not ranked, a victory for Storley could put him in a line for a title eliminator in his next fight, if he’s victorious at Bellator 258. The winner of Page vs Anderson could be the next title contender, but Storley, who only has one loss on his record, could showcase himself in this fight and make a statement to the division.
Bellator 258 will feature multiple key matchups in both the welterweight and bantamweight divisions, including the main event title fight at 135-pounds, but there are important ranked fights throughout the evening. While fans may be disappointed that Anthony Johnson won’t be facing Yoel Romero, the former UFC light heavyweight title challenger will be back in action after four years away from competition, and that alone should be worth viewing.
