Bellator MMA has come to terms on going separate ways with nine fighters including Roger Huerta and Brandon Girtz, with the news of the roster cuts being first reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie. As documented in the report, it is unclear whether which fighters were released and which were not simply just not re-signed by the promotion.
Fighters who have parted ways with Bellator MMA
Roger Huerta
After going on a four-fight losing skid including losses to Benson Henderson and Patricky Pitbull, Huerta will not be returning to Bellator. A true MMA veteran with two stints in Bellator, the UFC, and ONE FC, Huerta has always been a fan favorite but will now be looking for a new home. His last loss came to Chris Gonzalez. Overall in his career, Huerta is 24-13-1, and his last Bellator stint saw him go 0-4.

Brandon Girtz
Making his Bellator MMA debut back in 2012, Girtz was a long-time veteran of the promotion where he had over half of his professional fights. His last fight was a split-decision loss to Henry Corrales and he exited the promotion on a two-fight losing streak. He exits the promotion with a professional record of 16-10.
Cal Ellenor
Cal Ellenor had potential when he first joined the promotion and after picking up a first-round submission victory over Nathan Greyson, Ellenor quickly developed a rivalry with Irish superstar James Gallagher. The two would have an altercation at a press conference in March of 2020 and then their fight was postponed. Once the fight took place, Gallagher picked up a quick submission victory, putting an end to the rivalry and Ellenor’s short-lived Bellator tenure.

Frans Mlambo
With only one loss coming to Ricky Bandejas in February of last year, Frans Mlambo went on to compile a 3-1 record during his Bellator tenure with his wins coming over Nathan Greyson, Dominique Wooding, and Cory Tait. He has an overall professional record of 9-5 in his career.
Paul Redmond
Only a three-fight veteran in Bellator, lightweight Paul Redmond went 2-1 during his run in the promotion. He’s also a veteran of UFC, Cage Warriors, and KSW. In his last fight, he suffered a submission loss to Georgi Karakhanyan. Redmond leaves Bellator with a 15-9 professional record.
Ryan Roddy
After just one fight with the Bellator MMA promotion, Ryan Roddy has gotten his exit papers. He’s fought once since 2015, with his lone win coming at Bellator 227 in September of 2019, an unanimous decision victory over Patrik Pietila. He had been scheduled to fight in February of 2020 but withdrew from the fight and has not competed since. His current record is 8-1-1 in his career.
Richie Smullen
A veteran of TUF and Bellator, Richie Smullen was 3-1 during his run with the promotion with his only loss coming by split decision to Alberth Dias. After his win at Bellator Dublin, there was plenty of hype and support around Smullen as a promising Irish prospect. He exits the promotion with a professional record of 6-2-1.
Gabriel Varga
With only two fights in his professional career, both coming in the Bellator promotion, Gabriel Varga was 1-1 during his tenure with his salt fight coming as a split decision loss to TeeJay Britton in February of last year. An accomplished kickboxer, Varga made the transition and his debut with the promotion saw him with an impressive TKO victory.
Arbi Mezhidov
It was one and done for Arbi Mezhidov in his Bellator tenure in which he suffered a first-round submission loss to Saul Rogers at Bellator 248 last October. He leaves the promotion with a 13-4 professional record.
