Bellator’s first offering of 2021 delivered on Friday with Bellator 255, which took place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The semifinal round of the featherweight grand prix came to a conclusion in the main event when Patricio Freire (32-4 MMA, 20-4 BMMA) punched his ticket to a finals matchup against A.J. McKee with a first-round submission of Emmanuel Sanchez (20-5 MMA, 12-5 BMMA) to defend the 145-pound crown.
The win took “Pitbull,” who is already considered by most to be the best fighter in Bellator history, to new heights as far as his place in the record books.
