Liz Carmouche vs. Vanessa Porto set for Bellator 256

Liz Carmouche vs. Vanessa Porto is the latest addition to Bellator 256 on April 9.

A promotion official confirmed the flyweight matchup to MMA Fighting following a report from Fansided. The event takes place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., and airs live on Showtime.

Two-time UFC title challenger Carmouche made her promotional debut for Bellator this past September at Bellator 246, picking up a third-round submission victory over DeAnna Bennett. The win put her back on the right foot after a title loss to current UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko at UFC Uruguay triggered her release from the promotion.

Carmouche faces another champion in Porto, who in February 2019 won the Invicta FC flyweight title with a decision over Pearl Gonzalez. She was slated to defend her belt against Karina Rodriguez seven months later at Invicta 38, but Rodriguez failed to make weight for the title bout. She won the bout via unanimous decision.

Bellator 256 is headlined by a light heavyweight rematch between heavyweight champ Ryan Bader and Lyoto Machida.
