Welcome to Midnight Mania!
After scoring the biggest win of his career and becoming the first man to knock out Conor McGregor in the process (WATCH IT!), Dustin Poirier has a ton of options. He’s almost certainly going to fight for the title next, but there are simply countless potential opponents for Poirier. Charles Oliveira more than deserves a title shot himself, Michael Chandler is coming off a huge knockout (even if Poirier is unimpressed), and somehow Nate Diaz has once again talked himself into the mix!
Oh, and then there’s the potential for a rematch with Conor McGregor, the biggest money option of the lot. The two are 1-1 opposite each other, and McGregor himself called for the trilogy bout earlier today on Instagram.
“Hats off! A well fought fight by The Diamond,” McGregor wrote. “1 a piece now with a Trilogy bout for all the marbles! Wow! Exciting! Not a trilogy I was expecting, nor the tactical affair I was anticipating, but I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t meant to be. This is exactly how this was always meant to be! Buzzing!!”
Poirier’s response was far less wordy then the Irishman’s detailed recap, but it would appear that “The Diamond” is ready to run it back.
You know we are going to do it a 3rd time ⚔

Of course, there are still many details to be determined before contracts are signed, but if both McGregor and Poirier want to complete their trilogy sooner than later, UFC will likely jump on board.

A serious throwback for my WEC fans.

Yeah, this is going to be an absolute BANGFEST!
This is what scrambling in wrestling practice should look like:

In this huge upset, Daniel Torres absolutely creams his opponent with his BICEP!
Anyone who fights for as long as Jorge Masvidal has a better than average chance of ending up on the wrong side of an absurd submission … that has since largely been forgotten!
This is precisely what one would expect the debut of an internationally decorated Greco-Roman wrestler to look like.

Fun fact: Octopuses (Octopi?) run along the sea floor.
This one’s for my fellow video game nerds. If my articles get suspiciously worse for a few weeks around May 14th, well, you’ll have an idea why!
Midnight Music: Seven or eight months late per usual, I got around to listening to Protomartyr’s latest release, Ultimate Success Today. I missed most of the lyrics, but I still dug their dreary, noisy brand of post-punk.
